Winter (December - March)

  • Winter pruning
  • Hazard tree inspection
  • Hazard tree removal

Spring (April - mid June)

  • Wash salt off trees in grates and on medians while the ground is still frozen
  • Remove sun protectors from tree trunks
  • Stake tree planting locations
  • No pruning in April, May and June
  • Start planting trees when the frost is out of the ground
  • Celebrate Arbor Day
  • Plant trees
  • Finish planting bare root trees before their buds break open
  • Water weekly as needed
  • Inspect depth of mulch
  • Order mulch as needed
  • Water weekly as needed
  • Inspect for insects and diseases
  • Control weeds
  • Plant B&B (balled and burlapped) and container grown trees

Summer (Late June - August)

  • Water weekly as needed
  • Control weeds
  • Inspect for insects and diseases
  • Add mulch as needed
  • Prune for clearance over streets and sidewalks and near signs in July and August

Fall  (September – November)

  • Water as needed
  • Water young evergreen trees before the ground freezes
  • Remove stakes and ties from trees planted before fall of the current year
  • Fertilize trees as the leaves fall
